[Cloud Insights] Proxy Settings / DNS Alias

One quite useful thing in your NetApp Cloud Insights tenant portal - https://{tenant}.cloudinsights.netapp.com - is a list of all the hostnames you may need to setup rules for on your proxy server.

Simply log in to your Cloud Insights tenant portal.

Click on Help > Support

Under Proxy Settings

And you'll see something like the below (certain things have been greyed out for privacy):

If your organization requires proxy usage for internet access, you need to understand your organization's proxy behaviour and seek certain exceptions for Cloud Insights to work. The simplest way is to add the following domains to the exception list...

That is:

Everything: Port 443 / Protocol https / Methods GET, POST, PATCH, PUT, DELETE

  • Tenant URL: {STRING}.cloudinsights.netapp.com
  • Acquisition Unit Ingestion URL: {STRING}.cloudinsights.netapp.com
  • Acquisition Unit Authentication URL: aulogin.{STRING}.cloudinsights.netapp.com
  • Gateway URL: gateway.{STRING}.cloudinsights.netapp.com
  • Cloud Secure URL: {STRING}.cloudinsights.netapp.com
  • Cloud Secure Agent Authentication URL: agentlogin.{STRING}.cloudinsights.netapp.com
  • Reporting URL: reporting-{STRING}.cloudinsights.netapp.com

If you want to create an internal to your enterprise DNS Alias for users, you just need 3 aliases (the others are for programmatic access):

  • Tenant URL
  • Cloud Secure URL
  • Reporting URL
