TR-4598: FabricPool best practices (netapp.com)
SAN protocols:
- Snapshot-Only: Snapshot-Only is an acceptable tiering policy for most SAN use cases.
- Auto: Auto should only be used for non-critical applications.
- All: All should not be used on volumes hosting LUNs.
Cloud Backup – BlueXP Backup and Recovery | NetApp
Affinity bottleneck due to a few volumes sharing the same VOL affinity ID - NetApp Knowledge Base
- CLU::> node run local
- NODEA> priv set diag
- NODEA> waffinity_stats
AFF A250 and C250 both have 12 cores per node running 2.10 Ghz
C250 will do been 75'000 -> 250'000 IOPs depending on workload.
Questions to be answered:
- Q1: Any benefit to keep all same type of VM in one volume still, with aggregate deduplication?
- A1:
- See: https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap-apps-dbs/vmware/vmware-vsphere-datastores.html#datastore-layout
- "Data is deduplicated across all volumes in an aggregate, so you no longer need to group similar operating systems and similar applications within a single datastore to maximize savings."
- Q2: Migrate RDM from Solidfire to AFF C2XX?
- A2: Sounds like it should be possible:
- Migrating virtual machines with Raw Device Mappings (RDMs) (1005241)
- TR-4651: NetApp SolidFire SnapMirror Architecture and Configuration
- Q3: If you have SEDs, can we set volume default to no encryption? And is there any advantage in using NVE other than double encryption?
- A3:
