I've hot-added many NetApp disk shelves to NetApp systems in the past.
IOM12 shelves are a little bit new to me, and whilst I didn't expect the procedure to be any different to what it was with IOM3/6, it is always worth checking the documentation:
Everything is well detailed in the documentation and I might make some notes from it later.
Questions that should be asked:
- Type of shelf?
- Racked? Powered?
- Site Address?
- Cables availability?
- Contact / Remote Support/ Hands on Site?
- Datacenter access requirements?
- Shelf IDs?
- Engineer login?
- Disk assignments?
- Any other work required? (e.g expanding aggregates)
